Twist Lock Mason Jar Spice Shaker Lid

Presenting the Twist Lock Mason Jar Lid, specially designed for the Alternative Jar Lids Contest. This innovative lid embodies a unique twist-to-lock mechanism and, when unlocked, uncovers an array of holes, transforming your mason jar into a handy spice shaker or ambient fragrance dispenser if filled with aromatics.

Model Description:

The model prints in two parts, the upper and lower lid. Once printed, they can be stacked together and tighten on a mason jar with a standard lid. 

The two pieces are self centering, and contain a small hidden axle that keeps it spinning freely.

The six protruding “nubs” on the top lid are used to twist the lid open and closed. 

If you find it is hard to spin, you probably have the lid on too tight.

Prints very quickly, around 45 minutes.

Print Instructions:

• Use a layer height of 0.2mm or finer for best details
• A 0.4mm or smaller nozzle is recommended
• Allow the print bed to cool completely before removal to prevent deformation
• To assemble, simply put the two pieces together and screw the  lid on tight

The lid fits any size standard top mason jar.

The print requires a very good first layer to adhere. Use a glue stick if necessary. As seen in the pictures, the jar is nearly water tight when the lid is secure. It will keep spices very fresh but still easy to use. Recommended to use a food safe plastic, however the lid is not always in contact with the contents so it is probably fine in PLA.
