Hello guys and gals,

This is my design for using a mixing cyclops (2in1out) hotend.

It is meant for the Flsun Q5 and needs to be printed in ASA, ABS or PETG.

What's needed:

  • a bunch of M3 bolts of different lengths (with the rounded head to save space)
  • 24V radial fan
  • Cyclops mixing hotend (https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/32699836914.html?spm=a2g0o.store_pc_groupList.8148356.45.63c01540YiCGN2&pdp_npi=3%40dis%21EUR%21%E2%82%AC%2019%2C56%21%E2%82%AC%2010%2C78%21%21%21%21%21%40211b88f016869255647806315eb90c%2165639603051%21sh%21NL%210)
  • Some basic knowledge of marlin
  • A lot of patience 
  • a second stepper driver and motor+extruder(make sure the extruder uses the same amount of steps as the first one or the mixing will not work)

 

There is a sequence in which the hotend installation need to be mounted:

  1. take off the heatblock from the hotend assembly
  2. install the thermistor and heat element
  3. mount the z-sensor plate to the effector plate and make sure that the bolts don't stick out
  4. mount the cold-end to the effector plate with 3x bolts on the back
  5. slide the hotend inside of the cold-end and make sure there is a little gap between the bottom of the effector plate and the hotend, use the tiny screws to tighten the heatbreaks in the cold-end.
  6. Install the radial fan on the back
  7. install the effector on the printer and wire everything up. 
    you might need to krimp some connectors on the cables to make it fit.
  8. compile marlin to be used with the cyclops hotend or wait till I upload a stable version

now start calibrating everything again.
