Star Trek TNG Small PADD Variants

This is the smaller PADD from Star Trek: The Next Generation. On the show there were different variations of it, each included here. 

There are 4 main styles: 

• Style 1 - The small PADD in its basic form. Version 1a is plain, 1b and 1c have panel cutouts.
• Style 2 - Has a smaller display below the buttons for showing more controls.
• Style 3 - Has a taller screen and the controls are tighter. Version 3a is plain and 3b has a panel cutout.
• Geordi’s red PADD

Update December 11 2023 - Added an 'internal reveal' option for a fun and unique display. Update notes:

• Internals option works with all 4 styles. Glue connectors into bottom and middle layers only, leave the top unglued so it can be removed for the reveal. 
• Internals parts rely heavily on color-swapping so its good to be familiar with the process. I printed all of it at .15mm layer height and some colors were only a single layer. 
• Features a storable isolinear chip that fits inside.
• Redesigned v2 middle layer works with or without the internals option. 
• Refer to image for placement of internals parts. 
• Added v2 tops that have the button holes closed so you can glue the black LED inserts to the tops instead of to the middle layer. This was important for the internals option to work. 
• Changed Geordi circuit to sit deeper with new v2 top. 
• Changed Geordi buttons to be printed separate from their base plate for easier color-swap printing. 

All 4 styles use the same middle/bottom layer and connectors. 

The panels can be printed and applied as paper stickers if desired. Use color swapping for the panel accents if FDM printing. 

While I normally create my own graphics, for this one I used some fantastic images shared from LCARS.org.uk and they are available in PDF format. They should print out correctly at actual size.

Filaments: I printed the gray PADDs in Prusament Gravity Grey PLA which worked well having a smooth matte finish. For the Geordi PADD I used Justmaker PLA Matte Pro Chelsea Red, which is a deep ruby red with a very slight wine tint that also has a good matte texture. For the internals I used Prusament Galaxy Black, Galaxy Silver, Gentleman's Grey; CC3D Silk Antique Gold; Ziro Silk Silver; Overture Matte Black. The circuit boards with silk silver and gold lines give it some realistic texture. 

The isolinear chip was made with IEMAI Transparent Blue PETG (Red and Green too for the Geordi LEDs), CC3D White PETG, and the label was done with Ziro Matte White PLA and Overture Matte Black.
