Description
Update: 7/06/23
beveled the edges to be less sharp cutting into green onions
added a groove indent in the middle so you can wrap the rubber band you get with the onions onto the disc. The rubber band helps with keeping the onions in place.
I'm learning about horticulture, and wanted to see how I can do more gardening in my small apartment by combining 3D printing.
Most videos instruct to cut green onions down close to the white, leaving a bit of green. This leaves a tapered bulb. I like this video where he tests all 3 scenarios of cutting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5vyzhmjNvo
Then just followed the instructions in this video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrOJ95O7JHg
I made a 50mm disc with different gauged holes from 6.5mm to 12mm. I am using a small (56mm) mason jar. If my jar is wider, I can make a larger disc, and make different sized holes. What are some common mason jar diameters?
It is printed with low infill but stronger walls to resolve
-sinking
-weathering resistance
My final model will be made in TPU and thinner walls.
