Description
I threw out the original back barrel of the automower and replaced it with a printed part and an ikea RILL 2"/50mm castor.
as this got stuck with grass and mud and rusting bearings I replace the original wheel with a tpu wheel sealing two 608 bearings.
print wheel parts in nearly solid TPU, or at least 6 walls.
print bushing in PETG.
the ‘chassis’ part can be printed in PLA, PETG or ABS/ASA.
hardware needed:
IKEA RILL (or similar 50mm castor)
M6x30 screw and M6 lock nut
2x608 bearings
4x3mm wood/drywall screws to fasten the castor to the holder
remove the original axis with a dremel or the tool of your choice, put bearings inside the wheel body, insert PETG bushing and glue in the inserts.
optional cover for the ‘stearing’ bearings, I glued that in.
pictures show it after 3 months usage with a 5 blade solid tpu blade disk (https://www.printables.com/model/184185-mower-blade-disc-for-gardena-r40li)
