Description
This unit will hold filament spools up to 90mm wide. The bearings are 3d printed using 6mm plastic BBs commonly used in Airsoft rifles. Supports are only required from the build plate when printing the Spindles. I did place some felt pads under the Outer walls to eliminate any rolling noise that may occur.
Assembly is suggested as follows:
1: Carefully, glue the Outer Bearing Races to the Outer Walls. Be careful not to get glue in the area where the balls will rotate. If glue does squeeze out into the ball race then I suggest using something like a Q-tip to clean the ball race. If glue did squeeze out then do not proceed to the next step until the glue has set.
2: With the Outer Wall laying on a flat surface place the Inner Bearing Race in the hole. Insert 13 6mm BBs into the gap. The last few will need a gentle snap to properly position in the ball race area.
3: Place a small amount of glue into the very center indent of the Inner Bearing Race and push the spindle end to mate with the Inner Bearing Race. Allow the glue to set.
