Description
This is a PDC I created from the ground up in Blender using reference images from the show The Expanse. I have another variant of the model out there, but this one is closest to the show's PDC, while still being printable with an FDM. I printed the test model with a .4mm nozzle and have not tried larger nozzles. I have included a pre-cut version and the whole version.
Recommend Directions:
- Dry your PLA. I did not and it shows in my print.
- .4mm or smaller nozzle.
- .1mm layer height (1:50min-ish on my MK3S+ with no settings tweaks)
- Print the file already cut into two pieces. (requires the two halves to be glued afterward).
-The uploaded scale seems perfect, but scale as you desire. Note, I have not test printed at smaller scales.
-Use supports. I used painted on supports where indicated in purple in the photos.
-Have a neodymium magnet on hand. Size 8mm x 3mm recommended. I found the ones I use at Ace Hardware in the US. (I also found the same magnets inside a magnetic cellphone mount.)
-Look at my photos and glue a neodymium magnet in the same spot as I did. If you are using this on a Prusa, the magnet must be at least .3mm thick to clear the outer extruder casing, or stack two. If you changed the scale and glue the magnet in the same place I did, the spin axis will be different. If you don't want this to be the case, glue the magnet where you think you will achieve the desired spin axis.
