Does the door on your shiny new Creality K1 rattle like crazy?  Does it also crash into the top of your screen when you open and close it?

Here's the ridiculously easy fix!

  1.  Print this little shim with a nice big brim so it sticks to your print bed.  I used Purefil ASA but you can use PLA if you fancy.  It does not need to be particularly tough but the sizing needs to be accurate so a well tuned printer is needed (your K1 will do it out of the box at 0.2mm layer height).
  2.  Let it cool before you attempt to remove it from the printer.
  3.  Carefully remove the brim from the printed tube shim tube.
  4.  Use a sharp blade to cut the shim from top to bottom so it can flex / ‘open’ wider.
  5.  Remove the printer's glass door by removing the 2 screws from the bottom hinge.  HOLD THE DOOR as you unscrew the screws, otherwise it will fall and smash and ruin your day.  It is easiest to do this while the door is closed.
  6.  Slip the printed shim over the vertical pin that is screwed to the top left of the glass door.  Ideally, the slit you cut into it should be on the left side of the pin when the door is closed.
  7.  Slide the pin with the shim fitted on it up into the hole that it came from when you removed the door.  This should be a positive, snug fit.  That is effectively the fix, to stop the top pin rattling around in the oversized hole.
  8.  Carefully re-fit the lower hinge screws.  Having at least 3 hands is helpful here.  Again, do it with the door in the closed position to make your life easier.
  9.  Enjoy your newly silent K1 door that no longer scrapes across the top of the screen housing.
