Compact rod cutter attachment for Dremel flexi shaft

A compact attachment that screws onto a Dremel flexi shaft for cutting 5mm rod or tube. Use with a 38mm grinding disc or saw (saw not tested). I use it to cut carbon fibre tube. The two parts print in place without additional support. Unlike some other "Dremel chop saw" attachments which can only trim off a short length due to the body of the Dremel getting in the way, this attachment can cut anywhere.

If you need a diameter other than 5mm, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Note that there is a hard limit to how big you can go with the 38mm cutter and the radial clearance available with the flexi shaft handle.

Print instructions

0.15 mm layers - important for thread detail and part separation after printing. 3 perimeters. 20% infill.

PLA. Maybe PETG but I haven't tested if the parts will separate after printing.

The two parts print in place without additional support, and then separate with a bit of careful encouragement. Use a 30mm long 3mm diameter bolt for the hinge. I used an M3x30mm hex head bolt, nylock nut and washers at each end, but use what you have to hand.

Use an M3x10mm bolt in the other hole (see picture) to act as a depth stop. Adjust as required. The hole is intended for self-tapping. If it wears out, you can add a square M3 nut in the slot provided, but don't bother with the nut until the self-tap thread wears out.
