Description
I recently bought my first sewing machine, a broken vintage Singer Stylist 533, and quickly realised the class 15 bobbins that are common these days do not work well in that machine. I struggled to find a 3D printable model of a class 66 bobbin, so I created my own.
I followed dimensions from Singer Sewing Info, more specifically from the Apollo bobbin, part number 172336. I adjusted it slightly, rounded off some edges, split it into printable parts, tested it out and it's working well.
It's designed to have a fairly tight fit on the bobbin winder.
Instructions:
Print 2x cap.stl
Print 1x shaft.stl
Use the lowest layer height possible for the smoothest surface finish. I did 0.1mm initial layer, 0.05mm for the rest of the layers.
Print fully solid, either with 100% concentric infill or as many walls as it takes to make it solid.
Supports are needed for cap pieces, next version will be supportless, let me know if you want that.
Super glue (cyanoacrylate) the caps on.
Sand off any printer blobs.
Enjoy :)
Tested with FDM printing, but should work with resin too.
Please let me know if you have any questions, or want me to export any other file types.
