Description

This is an adapter that replaces one of the two reflectors (the effective front reflector) on each Fooker brand F11 MTB pedal, and allows you to install toe clips on these pedals. The adapter provides a flat surface on which the toe clip can be mounted. You will need a pair of half toe clips in addition to two of these adapters. Two holes are also required to be drilled on the front side of each pedal. The adapters have holes for mounting hardware, and act as drill guides.

Requirements and steps:

  1. Determine the front face of the right pedal, then pry out the front face reflector.
    • NOTE 1:  The reflectors are held in place with an adhesive backing; it will take a bit of effort to pry them out. A small flat-head screw driver can be helpful.
    • NOTE 2:  The rear reflectors can remain intact and functional on both pedals.
  2. When Step 1 is completed, do the same for the left pedal. Be sure that you are correctly determining the front faces of both pedals (it is easy to mix up this step because the pedals rotate).
  3. With the right pedal facing forward, insert one adapter into the compartment where the front face reflector was removed. The adapter should click nicely into place. Make sure that your are installing this adapter so that the provided bolt holes are closer to the bottom of the pedal. See the attached diagram which indicates the installation orientation of the adapter.
    • NOTE:  If you install/orient the adapter upside down, the toe clip shoe surface will be positioned higher and will effectively make the front pedal studs useless, and you will have less grip on your shoe surface.
  4. With the adapter positioned correctly in the front face of the right pedal, carefully drill the two bolt holes through the front face of the pedal. The adapter holes provide a drill guide.
    • NOTE 1:  The adapters were designed to be mounted using 5mm x 25 mm hex bolts. A 5mm or 13/64" drill bit works for drilling the bolt holes. However, you will need to run the bit in and out of the hole a few times to enlarge it a bit, so that the 5mm bolt can slide through.
    • NOTE 2:  The sequence of hardware (I use stainless steel hardware to resist rusting) and components, going from front to back of the pedal, are as follows:
      • 5mm x 25mm bolt, 5mm washer, toe clip, adapter, pedal face/side, 5 mm washer, 5 mm slip/lock ring, 5mm nut.
  5. Repeat Step 4 for the left pedal.
  6. Since you will generally ride with your shoes in the installed clips, there is no need for the grip studs on the bottom surfaces of both pedals. I removed them to be used as replacement parts for when a stud gets lost or worn down; but more importantly, I got rid of them to prevent the little devils from scratching up my legs and hands.

NOTE:  The Fooker F11 pedals were purchased on Amazon; search:    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BCQ3NM8C?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

NOTE:  The Zefal Cristophe half toeclips that I use were also purchased on Amazon; search:   https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000AO9K9S?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1&psc=1

NOTE:  The F11 pedals do not accommodate well toe straps; for this reason, I use half clips.
