Description
I designed this shroud to keep my 14TB EasyStore cool as it would consistently run around 55C which is way too hot for a drive. After this mod, my temps are typically 31C which matches that of the drives in my computer case with dual 120mm fans blowing air across them.
Decided to create this after killing a drive in under a month of heavy usage (filled 12TB with a consistent 50-55C temp then got a bunch of Pending Sectors and Offline Uncorrectable sectors). Dual fans may be overkill so feel free to remix and test it out!
After printing the shroud, you should first attach the fans. Set these as exhaust pointed out the top! I used the pull-tabs that are included with the Noctua fans. These should be fed in from the bottom like so:
Pull these through the other side tightly
Trim the bottom and tops of the pull tabs with flush cutters
It will be necessary to trim off the overlapping sections in the middle like so so that the shroud will sit flat on top of the enclosure.
Connect your fans to the splitter cable, then the splitter cable to the USB then connect it to a USB outlet or your computer and you should be ready to put the enclosure on top of the drive!
