Description

This compact design is perfect for the home office or as a small portable fan to bring with you when traveling.

The design is round as opposed to most other models that uses a standard PC fan. This is about the tightest fit possible to hide a fan of that size.

The fan I used is a standard 20dB fan with 50cfm flow. It is barely audible and gives a gentle breeze.

For the stand I used a polished 8mm steel rod I had left over from some other project. I suggest you use something similar as it looks very nice, perhaps wood or bamboo or even a drinking straw could work as the fan is very light.

Included with the files is a printable rod in case you don't find something suitable to use.

The large rings have 175mm outside diameter.

Print Settings

Designed to print without any support or rafts.

Very low infill rates should work fine.

Assembly

This fan is designed for a 120mm x 25mm PC fan.
You will need some power source, I used a 12V wall wart I had left over from a WiFi router. (AC adapter). A USB charger might also work and gives even quieter operation as the voltage is lower.

The hole for the fan is intentionally designed slightly to big for the fan, you will need to add some padding around the fan to stop it from moving around. I used some rubber bands but folded paper or similar should work fine.

Option 1:

Use 8x, M3x20 screws to assemble the fan rings. Washers are optional.

It usually works to screw directly into the holes, no threading required.

But depending on the printer you might have to clean up the holes and or thread them.

Option 2:

Use glue to assemble the fan rings, the mating surfaces are nice and smooth and should be easy to glue. But it might be tricky to get the fan out again if you ever want to use it for something else.

Included in the files are a thin rod for the stand, this can be used if you don't have 8mm rod available.

There are some extra holes in the foot, they can be used for adding adjustable feet, for example if you want to tilt the fan slightly. Or for mounting rubber pads. Fits M6 screws.
