Description

I have made this model to get very close in size and looks to the original Light Soy lamp by heliograf, it is based on the great Design by TumTomor.

I have increased the Size of the Fish Itself & changed its proportions to fit, in total the Lamp with base is around 35cm tall.

You can either hang the lamp or print the stand and use it as a desk or nightstand-lamp.

To be able to print the fish itself it is split in 2 parts right where the threads start. (Seam not visible behind the cap)

*VERY IMPORTANT:  To get as close to the original size as possible the Fish without thread is 26.9cm tall, therefore not printable with a regular MK4/MK3S+  (I have printed it with an Ender 3 S1 Pro)!

For anyone who wants to print it with a MK4/MK3S+ i have added the Version

LightSoy_Fish_Prusa_Z_Height_VaseMode.stl

which is 21cm tall, but obviously looking a bit more bulbous.

*EDIT (24.08.2023):

For those who want to print the full size version with a smaller z-height printer, I have split the fish itself again. It is split just above the sign and below the scales to not interfere with the texture too much. To avoid having a dark band across the fish, it does not have a inset brim like the threads do, so it will probably be a bit finicky to glue the whole thing together. Printing Instructions:

  • Fish + Threads (PLA mat white)

To act as a translucent Lampshade i have printed these Components in VASEMODE or Spiralize Outer Contour(Cura). To get stronger prints in Vasemode you should increase the line-thickness; I have printed 0.8mm thickness with a 0.2mm nozzle (In my experience this is the max. you can get away with), You can increase the temperature by 5-10°C to get better prints and should slow it down to around 75% of your normal printing speed. (Depending on how good your part cooling is). Depending on your bed adhesion i would recommend a rather wide brim especially when printing the tall fish.

  • Cap (PLA Red)

I have printed the Cap with 30% infill, no supports although you could probably get away with way less infill too.

  • Stand (PLA Black)

The stand was printed with 50% infill to get some weight, so the whole lamp does'nt get to top heavy.

Assembly Instructions:

As a Lightsource the Cap fits E14 Sockets & most slim LED Lightbulbs, i have use the following:

https://www.amazon.de/dp/B081YR9D1L?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
(Note; with this one you would have to take the wire out of the socket, put it through the cap and then reconnect it again)

https://www.amazon.de/dp/B06XS2RZXK?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
(Note; Good for Desklamp, for Nightstand to bright)

  1. Cutting away the bottom (& brim) of the fish and threads you can glue them together by inserting the chamfer on the top of the threads into the fish and coating the surfaces with cianoacrilato or something similar.
  2. Inserting the E14 Socket into the cap and routing the cable through the bottom of the cap and the stands cutout.
  3. The cap should be a friction fit in the stand. (They bove should be printed out of the same material to avoid dissimilar shrinkage)
