Description

It's a mini top hat fascinator that you can pin to your hair!

How to print:

  • PLA
  • 0.2mm layer height
  • 0.4mm line width recommended
  • ~15-20% infill
  • no supports
  • There are three pieces: The hat, the band that goes on around the hat, and the ‘pin’ that you slide underneath the hat to hold to hair. I recommend printing the pin/stick in the same color as the hat, so it blends in.
    • Alternatively, I have included a version with an attached band that you can either print in a single color, or that I think should work for multiple extruder printers (let me know if it doesn't. I had to mess with it a bit to get Prusa slicer to divide it up properly without un-hollowing the hat—it looks like it should work.) This is the version shown in the 3D render gif.
    • Alternatively-alternatively, you can just print the bandless hat, the pin, and then affix an actual ribbon around the hat, if you're feeling crafty :P
  • One of the pictures above shows how to maneuver the pin-stick under the hat to clip it to hair.
  • Carefully widen the coil of the separate band piece to slip it onto the hat, past the wide part at the top, making sure the bottom is facing downwards (the inner top corner has a visible filet.)

The main body of the hat is hollow, with strategic geometric bridging up at the top, in order to cut down on the weight. It still has ~45g of mass, as I printed it, so it'll wobble around if you don't give it a good hank of hair and/or don't have your hair otherwise held in place (e.g. ponytail, with extra bobby pins, etc.)

I've also included several versions of the model for remixing: ones where the hat is still hollow but the bottom is solid without holes, and ones with a 100% solid hat that could be added to things or printed at a much smaller size.

The filaments shown in the photos are: Prusament Galaxy Black PLA and Pineapple Yellow PLA
