Information about the model

This adapter allows you to mount the Fireboard Drive 2 Fan to a Broil King Keg 5000.  It replaces the bottom daisy wheel dampener. For obvious reasons you need to use a plastic that has a good Heat Deflection Rating ( https://help.prusa3d.com/materials ). I printed mine in Prusament PC Blend. The hottest I've measured the ash tray to become is 75c (this was while burning the grill clean at 400 degrees internal temp).

To minimize support material usage this model is printed upside down. Only the flat edges require support. Organic support works great here. Use the support paint functionality. I've included a 3mf file which is ready to print. But you might want to switch the material.

To further reduce support usage the mounting hole has been closed off with a thin film. You need to use a 8mm drill bit to open it up.

To mount the fan to the adapter you have to revert the prongs.

The fusion 360 source file is included in the files if you want to make modifications

Tips for using the Fireboard v2 with the Broil King Keg 5000

The Keg is a difficult beast to tame because it's very efficient. It retains heat extremely well and only burns a tiny amount of fuel.

The downside to this is that it is very hard for the fan to have authority over the grill temperature - since a tiny amount of air will do a lot, and the inherent air leakage decreases this window even further!

The Fireboard Drive can absolutely regulate the grill but the margin for errors in the setup is low. Which means a lot of trail and error to get a consistant regulated temperature. Fortunately I've tried nearly all variables and found the best combination :). When using these settings the Fireboard works GREAT!

Top dampener need to be set to less than 1. The top holes should be barely wide enough to fit the tip of a toothpick.

Use PID v1.0 - the newer PIDs are rubbish for the keg.

Max Fan speed 50%
