Description
This is the adapter piece that goes in the slot of the RockBros Suction Mount to hold a bike by the forks. Whether broken, or needing a new one, this will be a great fit. There are two models: A quick release version (the one that comes stock with the mount) and the 100mm 12mm Thru-Axle version.
Note, The original piece by RockBros has a small o-ring to make the interior waterproof. This model does not have a slot for an o-ring. If you're in a serious rainstorm, you may want to pop this out when you store it so the inside can dry.
This print will require lots of support for all the overhangs if you do it in one piece. I recommend cutting it into two pieces, and printing as such then using super glue or acetone to weld the pieces together. The axle will be holding things together too, so don't worry too much about the strength of glue, anything decently weather-proof should be fine.
I never was able to find the Quick-Release version for sale. And the thru-axle costs about $12 through RockBros. This fix worked great for me and is still in perfect condition on my bike mount, even through some interesting weather and lots of uses.
Material
I recommend printing in ASA, or PETG
Strength / Resolution
I recommend printing at 0.16mm or smaller, with around 100% infill. Honestly, you can get away with lower infill. But it's a small piece so doesn't hurt. Lower infill with a higher wall count will also work (4+ walls). This piece is not crucial in the sense that if it breaks, your bike won't fall off the rack (the axle is still there held on)
Supports (or lack thereof)
I recommend using tree/organic supports if you aren't going to the piece in your slicer. However, I recommend cutting the model before slicing and printing in 2 separate pieces without supports and then gluing them together. You'll see the 3mf files attached with the broken-up model. Check out the images as well if you are wondering how this looks.
Orientation
Printing straight up has worked best.
Let me know how it goes!
