At my job at Home Depot, I cut products such as wire and use "cut tickets" to record the information. The only problem, as every Home Depot employee knows, is that the tickets all come unglued, leaving a mess of paper in my apron. The solution is this "cut ticket" holder, which secures the tickets and provides a cover. You can also affix helpful information to the surfaces, such as a store map, department extensions, etc.

This is designed for notepads measuring 140mm x 108mm. You can use Sketchup to modify the files to fit your particular-sized notepad. (Lowes, Hobby Lobby, Wal-Mart, etc.)

The holes on top are intended for a zip tie hook. Run a zip tie through the holes to form a hanger. Then hook a carabiner to the zip tie.

I recommend a layer height of .2mm. I printed mine in a nice Home Depot orange. Snap together and glue if desired. You'll notice a diagonal edge on the rectangular top piece, and that just needs to align with the edge on the hinged piece.

Once assembled, split a book of tickets in half and insert one of the halves.

Attach your favorite reference sheets to the open areas. For mine, I added a store map (find your store layout on HomeDepot.com), a list of extensions, and a location reference for the 100 most asked-for products. I'm attaching templates for the phone list and the most-asked-for-products guide for you to customize. (Look for them in the Thing Files above.) Use your printers scale setting to print them at the ideal size.

This is the first of many Retail Tools I'm designing. Next up is a packing tape dispenser that affixes to a carabiner, and then a screwdriver/pliers/marker holder. Then a telescoping box grabber.

The pen holder kept breaking off, so I removed it. I also got rid of the spring since the papers hold fine without it. This is a new, streamlined version that can be printed on 150mm by 150mm print beds or bigger. (If you're using the Printrbot Simple Metal, you might have to turn off the skirt to get the models to fit.)

I increased the size of the case by 1mm wide and 4mm high due to some ticket books being too tight. I also nixed the eyelet in the Under 15mm version because the stress of being the hanging point was causing the spring to come off. I replaced the eyelet with two holes for you to run a zip tie through.

UPDATED 2015-04-05
I added a version for printers with bed lengths over 150mm. The 'biner loop on this version is attached to the back piece instead of the hinge. This results in a stronger attachment point.

UPDATED 2015-04-04. The side strap was causing the hinged piece to fall off, so I moved the strap to the center spring. The reason I can't put it on the back piece is because it would make the part over 150mm tall, too big for my printer's bed size. I also made the pen easier to remove and tweaked a few other things here and there.
