Description
A printable knockoff of a sealant dipstick. Orange Seal used to make these, but don't appear to be on their website anymore. For use with bicycle tubeless systems to check how much sealant is still in the tire without having to dismount the tire bead.
To use, have the bike in a stand (or otherwise have the wheels off the ground) and put the valves at the bottom. If the valve doesn't stay at the bottom, loop something around the valve that has enough weight to keep it at the bottom. Give the sealant some time so it can all settle to the bottom of the tire, then remove the valve core. Drop the dipstick through the valve body until it hits the bottom of the tire. Make sure the head of the dipstick doesn't hit the valve body because then you might not be getting all the way down to the tire. Pull the dipstick out, and look at the ridges to see how deep the sealant is in the tire. Use the size of the tire and your experience to gauge if there's enough.
Protip: Don't have a printer? Find a spoke and use the threaded end, the threads will catch the sealant and give you at least an idea if there is any sealant.
Will work best with a 0.4mm nozzle, might work with larger but I haven't tested that because I'm still using the ones I printed back in 2018. Print in whatever material you want, although remember that PLA can warp and shrink if you leave it somewhere really hot.
