This modification is intended to carry over as much as possible from the stock Anycubic printer (Vyper Rev. C, Kobra Plus and Kobra Max), but to get an direct drive extruder and better part cooling. My target was to be very compact with an improved visibility of the nozzle and reach a high stiffness for easy filament changes (the extruder is strong). Exempt of the cover, all parts need to be out of PETG at least (temperature resistance required)!
For this mod you need besides the printed parts the following stuff:
- Stepper extension cable 6pin JST PH2.0 to 4pin JST XH2.54 (100cm is sufficient)
- 26x M3x4x4,6 weld nuts (4mm length, 4.6mm outer diameter)
- 8x M3x10 screws
- 6x M3x8 screws
- 8x M3x6 screws
- 1x M5x35mm screw
- 92mm bowden tube
I also recommend to use/add the following:
Assembly instruction:
- Please start with disassembling the hole stock print head. Only the hotend with the strain gauge can stay in place. Remove also the lower sheet metal part arround the hotend!
- Start by assembling the upper part, press in the both sleeves and then slide it gently over the sheet.
- After you fixed this bracket to the gantry, directly connect the cable to the PCB board, before you fix the board back to the gantry!
- Meld in all holes of the lower part the nuts, same for both arms (see pictures).
- Fix the arms to the lower part by using the screws.
- Now you can fix this assembly below the upper part to the gantry. Keep an eye on the cables and PCB on the right side. Do not forget to fix the upper part with the lower part by additional 4 screws.
- As next step you can add the skirts, after that just slight the part fans into the skirts.
- Before you add the BMG Clone, put in place the small bowden into the hotend and then slight the extruder in. Fix the stepper with the stock screws.
- You need to interchange 2 wirings on the extension cable or change the direction of the extruder in your firmware (for example with Klipper easy possible).
Have fun and please show us your makes!
