Description
The Motherland Monument is a colossal statue of a woman holding a sword and a shield, which stands on a hill overlooking the Dnieper River in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. It was built in 1981 as part of the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War.
On August 6, 2023, a historic event took place: workers installed the tryzub on the shield of the Motherland Monument, replacing the Soviet hammer and sickle emblem with the Ukrainian coat of arms.
