Description
This model is based on the Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro stock spool holder. Each part (tube, caps, shaft) is designed to be compatible with the original holder to allow for partial replacement or modification.
This holder uses same hardware as the original:
I have successfully printed the model in PLA using a 0.4 nozzle and 0.2mm layer height with the following changes to the standard profile:
Tube: Use random seam position to avoid getting a small bump every rotation. Additionally turn on scarf joint seams if you are using OrcaSlicer. If you have difficulties with bed adhesion, use a brim.
Cap: Standard settings work fine.
Screw cap: Turn on supports.
Outer shaft: If you have difficulties with bed adhesion, use a brim.
Inner shaft: This is a thin load bearing part, so make sure to use 6 perimeters/walls and 6 top/bottom layers (= 1.2 mm thickness). Use a high-strength material if possible.
⚠ Caution: Using these recommendations this part should hold a 1kg spool with ease. Please note that PLA creeps under load and I have not done any tests to see if it holds up long-term.
