Description

This upwards facing picture hook is made for canvas printed posters on wooden frames. They have a closed wooden frame all around and getting them on the wall with a zero gap is difficult with normal picture hooks. That is why I designed this one.

Simply put a screw in the wall with a head that is somewhere between 10mm (so it slips through the bigger whole) and 4mm (so it does not slip through the smaller whole).

Attach the hook with a little self-cutting screw to the wooden frame on the lower side of the top bar and put your picture on the wall. I will be completely flat on the wall with no gap.

I do admit that the last step may be slightly fiddly, as you cannot see behind the picture, but you will be rewarded with a perfectly aligned picture on your wall.

For the 120x60cm picture frame that I show in the picture above, I have used two of these, one close to each of the upper corners. In that case you have to make sure that the distance of your screws in the wall match exactly the distance of your hooks on your picture frame, apparently.

Have fun guys and happy printing.

Print instructions

I recommend to print this picture hook in the uploaded orientation with 100% infill. I have used PETG, as I always do for mechanically functional parts. But I have little doubt that PLA would work just as well.

When you drive the little screw through the hook into your picture frame, don't completely overdo it when you tighten the screw. You are working against the layer-to-layer adhesion of the hook. And even though it is 3mm thick, which is quite a bit, you may break it if you go completely crazy. As the hook supports the weight of the picture from below, the little screw does not have to carry any significant force anyway.

Disclaimer: From my point of view these hooks are very robust and should hold also relative large canvas printed pictures on wooden frames, which are actually not very heavy. Anyway, use these hooks at your own risk, it's completely on you if your picture comes loose and fall of the wall.
