Description

This is mouthpiece for DIY flutes and whistle with two different types of sound!

I made some prototypes and study some physic for the best geometry of this mouthpiece. The tone is stable and loud even if you print it on 0,25mm layer height.

There are more sizes for more pipes (D20mm, D20,3mm, D16,2mm, D16,8mm and D21,5mm). I used D16mm alu pipe and try some PVC pipes also. Work really well. There is also size for 1/2 inch PVC pipe. How to create whole flute you can find for example here:

https://www.instructables.com/Making-Simple-PVC-Flutes/

Advise for drilling: when you drill hole into pipe for this mouthpiece, make it bigger than D9mm. On the inner side of the edge, where the wind is splitting, should be clear path for wind to slide in to flute and start rotating. I recommend eliptic hole or bigger circular hole.

Size of "blow hole" is D9mm everywhere. That will be handy, when you try to figure out, where in the pipe you should drill hole for it. If you want to have tune flute, I prefer use this awesome tool for calculating holes in flute:

http://iotic.com/flutomat/

The mouthpiece turn into whistle when you fill one side of cylider hole (really loud version). Second type of sound you get, when you fill up both sides.

Hope you enjoy it!

Notes:

I use tree support for parts outside of cylinder and brim.

You can scale model, but you have to calculate with that for tuning the flute.
