Description
With beginning of Corona and the connected home-office period I accumulated a number of different boom arms for lights, camera and microphone - something that will reflect with many of us I assume.
Mounting to the desk was quickly discarded as idea as everything shaked like crazy.
Searching for alternatives the idea of combining it with the IKEA Algot system took shape. Algot is still my main office shelf solution and I have a number of rails around my desk.
In the beginning I up-cycled Algot hooks as boom arm mount points, but attached you will now also find fully printed Algot-compatible boom arm mounts.
Use at your own risk and make sure you do not put your expensive equipment at risk.
My go-to boom arms are from Tonor. They are cheap, available in two sizes and really sturdy. You'll find them at your local Internet dealer ;)
For the end of the boom arm I designed a fitting part that replaces the original pole of the boom arm. It requires a ¼" to ¼" adapter screw. There are tons of packs available that contain such adapter screws.
You will also need a threaded insert - I used the awesome ones of CNC Kitchen:
