Description
I kept losing the cheap plastic hub covers that are used on the stock chevy light truck wheels in this era (2007-2014?) Paying $20 for crappy third party replacements was getting old.
I designed these replacements that sit further back from the face of the wheel so don't get impacted as much by snow, slush and ice in the winter when driving through snow banks.
These covers have a twist lock and I've tested them on several 1000 mile trips without a single one coming loose.
Require three M3 cap head screws to attach the handle (arrow knob) to the locking cam.
Note, the screw head should face the center of the plate when the arrow points to the lock icon.
Additionally, there is a 5mm hole in the center where I have added a chevy logo printed in contrasting colors.
I used ASA, I assume PLA or PETG would not hold up but please report back if you try a different material.
For print orientation I printed the plate face down for best appearance. I tried to maximize strength on the other parts, its tempting to print the handle/knob face down but I wanted the layers to cut through the tee so I printed on the side with painted on support as shown:
You will need 3 cams and handles for each plate.
I'll include the CAD file for Fusion 360 but it is unusually messy as this design evolved a lot.
