Description
Update 2023.12.07 - added scaled down version for mini sized pin version.
This won't work for the “live” version of the fansets lower decks badge. That one has a different magnet orientation.
Created this to enhance the fansets lower decks badge. After seeing Mariner and Boimler on Strange New Worlds, the “canon” badge looks like it needs a black border around the metal delta. This was created to fit the magnetic version of the badge. The border is 2mm thick all the way around the edges, and well as the inset section of the back. Freecad file is included in case anyone wants to make the section around the edges thicker or thinner. Backing piece has spaces for 12mm or 12.7mm magnets that are ~3mm thick. If you want the backing to work better for thinner magnets, you can try to scale down the z height of the model.
Prints shown using PLA and TPU at 0.2mm layer height. You may want to use TPU to give the metal some cushioning. Cover photo is of fansets metal painted with rustoleum titanium silver spray paint, then clear-coated with krylon crystal clear acrylic finish. I used gorilla glue gel attach the badge to the frame. Just FYI, I was able to bend a tpu printed frame enough to remove a superglued badge so I could clean up and repaint.
Other example shown was printed in filaments.ca bone white color for contrast. Main photo used sainsmart black TPU.
