Features

This charging stand holds your phone in a convenient location by attaching it to the charger. The foam lined phone holder will never damage the phone and makes it easy to insert and remove it. There's also a little clip on the charger frame that holds the cable in place when not in use.

Customizer

This is a very niche product as it is. Not many people have an essential phone charger, not many people have a fairphone 4. And probably damn near no one has both. Fortunately just about every single dimension is customizable. Open the Charging stand.scad file in openscad and hack away at it in the customizer window. Be sure to post successful remixes on printables.

How to make

Materials needed

  • Firm foam (3mm thick by default)
  • 2 * M3x5mm bolts with countersunk heads
  • 2 * M3 nuts

The USB cable used can be bought here, I recommend it.

Assembly

  • Print the charger frame
  • Optionally: sand it
  • Insert the 2 nuts into the holes for them, they are very snug, no glue is needed (but maybe a hammer)
  • Wrap tape around the charger a few times (make sure not to cover the charging port) to increase friction and avoid scratching the charger
  • Slide the charger into the charger frame
  • Insert the USB cable.

  • Print the phone holder
  • Optionally: sand it
  • Cut the first 2 strips of foam which will run along the sides of the phone. I recommend you use long scissors, not a knife
  • Glue the 2 strips to the phone holder. I used superglue on PETG and it worked great, your mileage may vary
  • Once the glue is dry, screw the phone holder tightly onto the charger frame (if you did everything right the screws should not hit the charger itself)
  • Cut and glue the remaining 3 foam pieces onto the phone holder to protect the screen, covering the screws. Optionally cut a small hole in the foam for a screwdriver to be able to loosen the screws later

Improvement suggestions

The phone holder is a bit flimsy. I suggest you make it a bit thicker to improve that, using the phone_frame_thickness variable, it'll still be very fast to print. The cable clip on the charger frame is also a bit flimsy, I suggest you increase the cable_clip_thickness to improve that.

The reason I didnt include these changes in the file is because I havent tested them
