Description

This mould is for a small plant pot without drainage holes. If the cement is left untreated it allows for “natural” water drainage due to its porous characteristic. The pot should ideally house a plant outside.

*Pictures coming soon

Print settings:

  • Scale down to 50% (to fit one complete mould on the Bambulabs printers. (256x256x256)
  • Infill: (at least) 15% gyroid
  • Brim enabled
  • Supports enabled (only touching bed)
    • If using the Bambulabs printers then choose auto tree supports.

To prepare for moulding, apply a generous amount of Vaseline to the internal parts of the mould. Do not overdo this part because it can cause visible artefacts on the finished pot.

Connect the Left and the Right part of the mould together. Use a clamp with wooden blocks in between to apply slight pressure to the mould preventing it from separating.

Pour in your mortar mix. A thinner(more watery) mix takes longer to set but is easier to form, I advise that route.

Place the top mould piece to complete the 3-part mould. Some mortar/cement mix should seep out, if not, then add some more mix.

Lock the top piece into place using the alignment “nobs” on the print and clamp it down with wooden blocks in between (similar to the previous 2 mould parts).

Allow to set for at least 15hrs. Then carefully remove the Left and Right moulds by prying them from the top mould piece and prying them apart from each other using a flathead screwdriver (Use the dedicated slots).

With the top part still in the pot, water the pot and wait a few more hours until the pot expands enough to the point you can easily remove the top mould part.

Keep watering the pot during the last step to aid the setting process.

I have made 3 pots now, none perfect, but all unique.
