Description
This is a snap-fit 2-part frame designed for hanging theater playbills. Â It is sized for NY Broadway playbills, taking into account small variations between the 9 I had on hand. Â I'm not sure if this size is common internationally, but please share your results if others fit. Â
The backplate is designed and tested to snap fit into the frame without any scale adjustments. Â There are holes in the backplate designed to accept the linking clips if you want to hang several playbills at once. Â This works in columns, rows, or a grid. Â I am able to easily hang a 3x3 grid from a single nail. Â There is a spacer clip that should be used to fill clip holes around the perimeter of a grid to keep the grid hanging flat on the wall. Â The interference fit is designed to work in the default printed sizes. Â
The design was tested using 3 perimeters and 0.2mm layer heights, infill percentage is not crucial, 10-15% is enough. Â The provided 3mf files are my recommended printing orientation. Â A brim may not be necessary for the frame, I will test printing without the brim on future prints. Â
To assemble the frame first place the frame face down, and then place the playbill into the opening on the back. Â Then press the backplate into place until it clicks in all 3 locations on each side. Â There are 2 hanging points in the backplate, the upper triangle is ideal if the frame (or grid) is balanced. Â The flat side of the lower triangle can be used to level the frame if it isn't balanced. Â I used a kitchen scale to weigh each frame in order to build a balanced 3x3 grid.Â
