Description

This is a nice object of art. The sphere is forever captured within the sceleton cube object.

Height of the object version 1 is 9.9 cm (3.9 inches). If you need another size, you can resize the object in your slicer program without any problems.

The object must be printed with supports for the sphere.

Enjoy printing this object.

2022-06-06 Added version 2 of the sceleton cube object

Height of the object version 2 is 12.5 cm (4.9 inches). If you need another size, you can resize the object in your slicer program without any problems.

The ball of version 2 has more vertices and is thus smoother when scaled up.

Notes:

If you use the Cura slicer, you may want to use the support blocker to remove all supports but for the sphere. Please look at the attached picture.
This an object for advanced users due to the steep overhangs. Therefore I have used a small layer height of 0.12 mm for the object version 1. The bigger object version 2 can also be printed with 0.2 mm layer height.

Post-Printing

Remove supports

Be careful when you remove the supports for the sphere not to break off the base of the object. I have used a soldering iron to melt away the supports.

How I Designed This ===================

Cube object with sphere in Cura - view PREPARE

I have used the support blocker to remove all supports but for the sphere. If you are using Cura, you have to position the support blocker blocks at the location where the supports touch the object and not on the built plate. If you position the support blocker blocks on the built plate, nothing will be blocked.

Cube object with sphere in Cura - view PREVIEW

Look at the picture. The supports only support the sphere.

I have designed this object with Blender. It is derived from my "Skeleton cube object".
