This model was rendered using MATLAB R2016a on the ICQ model of the PSI made by Peter Thomas from the data of the Galileo mission.
The file's names explained: name_1_x_10_y.stl is 1 : x* 10^y. So _1_6_10_7 is 1:600000000 or one in 60 million.
Ida was the second asteroid visited by a spacecraft, the flyby was made by the Galileo probe in its way to Jupiter. It was the second minor planet to be discovered to have a satellite, named Dactyl. It is a S type asteroid, which means that is composed of silicate rock. It is one of the biggest member of the Koronis family. Asteroids families are group of them that share orbital and spectral characteristics, and are the result of a collision that shattered apart the main body into various pieces.
