Description

This is a set of cosmetic parts used to convert a Cybergun DESERT EAGLE .50AE into a N99, which is the "10mm pistol" found in Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. All functionality of the original airsoft pistol remains, although adjusting the hop-up is now much more difficult.

Print Settings

Notes:

Use the provided 3mf, the model is sliced into chunks to make printing on an FFF machine easier. Use supports. Material doesn't really matter, although keep in mind PLA might melt if left on a sunny surface on a hot day. ABS might degrade from prolonged UV exposure.

Post-Printing

Assemble based on the referrence STL of the whole assembly. I used super glue. After the glueup, use putty to fill any holes/dips. File off the roughest overhang artefacts.

optional: Sand off the sharp corner on the bottom of the magazine to match the N99's appearance even better.

If you want to use the safety lever plates I provided, you need to cut off the bumps on the ends of the stock ones. Than you just glue the new plates in place. Be careful, do not cut odd the hemispheres on the bottom or the safety won't work!

When all seams are filled and sanded, disassemble the pistol and paint all parts that will be visible when assembled. I used plastic base, than a few layers of silver car spray paint, a clear acrylic coat and a thin outer layer of black paint. I than wiped every part with a cloth dipped in acetone, which gave the edges a weathered look.

After painting, my slide wasn't as smooth as before. I fixed this by lubricating it with a bit of lithium grease.

How I Designed This

I exported the model from the game and converted it to STL using Nifskope. The actual game file was only used as visual reference and isn't present in the files of this Thing.

For the airsoft pistol dimensions and shape, I used a model from Grabcad. I would gladly link to it, but the model isn't up anymore. I made this thing about a year ago but I couldn't get to posting it until now.
