Description

This Kratky method net pot is designed to fit into a wide-mouth mason jar and includes a stand for keeping plants more vertical or simply keeping them up off the table. It is great for Vines or plants with long hang-y tendrils.

There are two pieces to this model, the basket, which functions as a net pot for the plants roots, and the stand. The stand attaches to the basket via a 3mmx 30mm (.125" x1.25")  long rod that you will need to supply yourself. I have found that bamboo skewers work quite well, or you could probably find a nail or other object with an appropriate diameter quite easily.

Printing

The top piece has a modeled in support structure to ensure the wishbone shape prints cleanly, after printing it can be removed by snipping the connection points on either end and running a knife down the seam as the attachment interface is only .5mm. If enough interest is generated in a copy of the top piece without the support structure, I will upload that as well.

The print in the photos was printed at .1mm layer height in PLA, It took me about 2 hours per piece to print on my Anycubic Kobra 2 with a .4mm Bondtech CHT VOL nozzle. I don't know if .1mm is necessary but it sure came out nice!

PLA is probably not necessarily the best material for this project, and hopefully, some friends will mention the best material for it in the comments for me, It might be better in PETG but I haven't printed with that yet. But it should hold up for as long as I can keep the plant alive

Assembly

After acquiring your rod, simply glue the rod into the hole in the shaft of the plant stand or basket with super glue, allow it to set, and then glue the other piece of the assembly into the hole on the corresponding shaft.

Finished

After assembling the model it is ready for plants! Follow any guide you can find on using the Kratky method of hydroponic growing and this net pot should serve you well!
