Description

This is a cylindrical container for a Starrett S248 long pin punch set. Sizes imperial (SAE) 1/8" to 3/8" in 1/16th increments (5 punches in all). Mine were stored for years in their original packaging: a flimsy plastic pouch that was half-torn and smeared with grime. When I first saw Kevbo's index for storing reamers, I decided that it was the ideal solution for storing not only my Metric reamers (I happen to have the exact same set) but also many other types of thin cylindrical tools like punches and drill bits.

I basically redrew the same shape in Fusion360 relying on the dimensions of the original design (60mm outer diameter) and used the same thread (metric trapezoidal profile TR52x3mm). I also drew the cap with a slightly undersized exterior diameter (59mm instead of 60mm) but with the same inner diameter so that overscaling the cap to 60mm in both X and Y directions in the slicer, the cap will fit perfectly on the base. IOW, the dimensioning of the cap follows Kevbo's design idea to the T.

One thing I did change is I did not include embossed lettering on the base or the cap. My experience with those is that the resulting text is too small in size to have proper definition. I used my Brother PT-E500 to make the custom labels but any labeling machine will yield much better results than embossed markings.  If the cap screws on a little tight on the base, just apply a bit of Jig-A-Loo or WD-40 on the threads.
