Description
9/9/2025 Update: If you are going to print the 1-piece outlet and with cord storage, then I highly recommend using support material for interface. I normally use PLA to print and I use PETG for the interface, but in this case I used PETG to print with PLA as the interface. Both options work well.
I saw a few versions of this idea and decided I would make a simpler version. I saw some designs that included an elaborate coiling under shelf but that seemed unnecessary. I first thought about cutting cord and adding new plug to make the cord about three inches long but decided for usefulness I would just use a rubber band for the cable. My first thought was to have indentation for the charger base but I am also including a simple design with flat surface.
The flat surface design is easier to print. I would suggest printing upside down. My slicer suggested printing on the side but required a large effort removing the all the additional support material. Printing upside down made for much easier support material removal.
The first file is 6mm thick(with lip around plugs) and the second is 5mm (without lip). I did this to make it easier for the short screws to connect better. Additionally, the 6mm (with lip) version was saved in STEP format and the 5mm (no lip) version is an stl file.
I think 15% fill is sufficient but since it is a small print I print at 100% to make it stronger.
17 November update:
A friend asked for a mod and so I have not verified these prints yet.
I added 2 more files to my original design for adding a holder for a tube of toothpaste, one on the left and the other on the right.
I have also added 3 additional files for those who may have the 2-hole version of outlets instead of the single rectangle hole. One file is a mod to my original and the other two add the toothpaste holders.
If you print these then please upload a picture - I would love to see them in action.
OK, one more addition - this makes a two hole version that is 6mm deep with a lip around the plugs.
18 November: 2 more files added: One with the plug holes about 1mm further distant (from new drawing on internet) and one with a slot in top of table for Sonic toothbrush.
5 December 2023 Update: Ask and you shall receive - I was going to do a remix of this design but just decided to add the new files here. Craig Andrews asked for a version with cord storage and I couldn't find a way to make it an easy print and I didn't want to have complex support, so I compromised. I am uploading 6 new files.
For the 2-hole outlet I am uploading 2 files; to include a single piece fixture with a storage compartment, one for a flat surface and one for a top surface with indention for Sonic base.
From the original 1-square hole outlet design but adding storage, I am uploading 4 files. Two new as the one-piece fixture with cord storage, one flat and one Sonic. I am also including two files as separate storage pieces, one flat and one Sonic, to add to the original no-storage fixtures. You will likely have to use glue to secure the storage to the original plate.
I would suggest printing the one-piece version on its back and use PETG filament as top layers of regular support interface. This should make the support peel off with minimum scaring.
This should cover all options. I am including a new picture of the separate storage piece on top of my original plate. I am sorry if all the files make this confusing.
I look forward to comments and pictures of makes.
