Description
I wanted to print Achim's great model of the International Karate players, but I don't like painting manually, moreover, I have an BambuLab X1C printer with AMS. I decided to modify the model to be able to easily paint the models, so I added slight depth and embosses to the to-be-painted parts, pixel by pixel. Booooy, it took a while. So, there are slight, 0.1 mm depths and embosses, but I think it doesn't break the concept of the big pixels.
For the easiest printing, setup your AMS slots like this:
There are 3 pre-configured projects for PLA filaments. I recommend the printing order like this:
Achim's model use two colors for the referee, for upper and bottom clothing separated, but it would require 5 slots, so it's only doable if you have 2 AMS units. (I don't.)
Achim's model contain multiple versions for stand and without stand, since readjusting the models took quite a while, I decided to borrow only the figures without the sticks under their feet. However, the referee stands on its own, the players don't, so I created a completely new stand for the players. Just print it, and you can forcibly push the players into the slots, you don't even need glue for it. I didn't want to include the referee, so you can place him wherever you want.
The layout and coloring is important, so if you have BambuLab printer, definitely go for the 3mf files. I placed the figures on their back, so less filament changes are required.
The files are adjusted to the default 0.4 nozzle, but since the model don't have to be very precise, but the number of filament changes heavily relies on the layer height, the 0.28 (extra draft) preset is preselected.
Supports are required and the layout contains it. The players are 10cm tall each, the referee is 8cm.
UPDATE: If you don't want to do a multicolor print (or you don't have a BambuLab printer) but you want to paint them yourself, it is easier to do it with these models because of the slight surface level differences now, so due to a request I included the STL files as well. They might look better in monochrome, too. (Only one of the player characters is included, you can mirror it in the slicer.)
If you have any questions, let me know!
Happy printing! :)
