About:

Prusa Mini Step Motor brace with 45deg blocks.

I had to install press button for time lapse and wanted to avoid installing it on the other end of the X axis and was not able to find anything that would suit my need.

The vertical wall prevents button from moving - guess what, double sided duct tape is not strong enough to prevent button from moving over time if pressed constantly during prints - so this prevents from button failing to register press during prints, thus making time lapse possible. Yet, the duct helps to keep button in place, at least for now - maybe someday it will be replaced by permanent glue?

So for now… behold the power of dual-sided duct tape, which was not strong enough to withstand the required force in given conditions, and now - thanks to the back wall -  it makes it possible to serve the initial use case without being trashed by the wheel of time!

Please give a like and post makes and provide comments for further improvements.

Dimensions:

  • width - almost 13mm (yyyeeaaah somehow I did not quite managed to get it even to 13mm, lacks juuuuust a bit)
  • other - standard stepper motor dimensions with little annoying extrusions to make it less slippery on certain parts.
  • screw hole - you can use M4x30mm screw to tighten the brace, but adding extra nut and washers makes it much more reliable.

Print:

WARNING: Due to axis motor heat it is advised to print it at least in PETG, so avoid printing in PLA because it could melt.

no supprorts, PETG, 20% infill, 0.4mm nozzle, 0.2mm layer, printed on Prusa Mini (duuuuuuh)
