ACMER P2 laser engraver positioners

A friend of mine wanted to build his own base plate for the ACMER P2 laser engraver. I designed these positioners which allow a separation of base plate and laser engraver for better storage and flexible use. The positioners allow the printer to be aligned with high repeatability on the base plate.

Riser feet for printer:

The positioners are supposed to fit the original ACMER risers I linked below. Alternatively you can print risers yourself, which are provided by the user @Les impressions D'ega:

Required parts:

• 8x - 12x wood screws
• 1x base plate of your choice
• 4x printed positioners

Print instructions:

• Filament of your choice
• 0,2 mm layer height
• NO supports needed
• Depending on your printers tuning you might need to scale the model 1-2% to allow for a better fit of the inner diameter

Assembly:

1. Align the first positioner on the base plate in the desired location.
2. I suggest to make everything parallel to the edges of the plate.
3. Screw in the first positioner.
4. Place the laser in the positioner and fit the other three positioners loosely under the riser.
5. Mark the locations of the positioners.
6. Remove laser and screw in the positioners.
7. You might want to align and mark each positioner one by one to ensure proper alignment.

Suggestions for use:

• After installation you can engrave your own positioning grid on the base plate.
• After installation you can mark holes and locations for fixture on the base plate.
• Depending on the material you choose, e.g. wood, and the thickness you might want to reinforce the plate with a frame from below.
