Profile Stick Helicopter

I fly RC helicopters and airplanes. Within the hobby, we have precision aerobatics competitions, and many times, pilots are wanting a plane to visualize specific maneuvers, similar to what Goose and Maverick were using in Top Gun - only our requirements are nowhere near as fancy; we just want an aircraft on a stick so we can think about how we might have to visualize a loop, roll, turn, etc. 

Several RC companies sell little wood cutouts on a stick, with colors similar to their larger scale brethren.

For this one, however, one of the guys in my club that I fly helicopters said, “We need something like those stick planes to visualize our maneuvers for routines!” 

I took that as something of a challenge, and after spending some time in OnShape, I came up with this little helicopter. It doesn't look like the Align 550X or a SAB Goblin 580 or anything, but it's good enough to give a visual representation, and it's one of my first models I've mocked up, so I figure it's at least a START into the world of CAD modeling. :)

This was printed on a Prusa MK3S, 15% infill, 0.15mm layers in PLA, although it can certainly be printed in PETG or ABS or any other similar material if you wish. No supports are needed, and you can print both parts flat on the print bed or separately if something breaks. The notch at the back will fit a ¼" wooden dowel nicely and should fit flush to the stick on either side; I purposely designed it a little thick because I'd printed someone else's design for a RC practice plane and found that it was really flimsy and the stick wasn't a good fit. With my heli design, a little bit of hot glue or CA glue will hold the stick in place; just put the body flat on a level surface, insert the stick, put some glue on one side, let dry, flip over, and repeat. :)

The blades should fit on top of the notch fairly well; a couple drops of CA Glue will make it hold.
