Pi Pico Sumo/Battlebot using a Wukong RP2040 breakout board.

This is a working progress, so for now, here are the print files for the chassis and the 8T (16T including both sides) and some basic control over WIFI.

Using a web browser, the robot can be controlled over WIFI, moving forward, reverse, turning and stop. This code was modified using ExplainingComputers.com

The breakout board is a Wukong 2040 board. It has the capability to use an 18650 battery, which sits pretty central for a balanced load, with charging capabilties. There is lots of room to expand with this board. Originally I was going to get the tracks as close to the chassis as possible, overlap even but I wanted to leave room for possible future mods or a housing cover. The tracks sit pretty close but if you do want them overlapping the chassis, the wheel mounts can be sanded, as we're talking small amounts.

The next step is to use a bluetooth controller, with variable speed control. But I'll update accordingly as I get on.

The robot I went with was the chassis and the 8T wheels (top tension wheels). I've also included the chassis (ChassisWheelCheck) which has a slot for the top tension wheel, as I've prvided a 10T and a 12T wheel. This way the wheel can be adjusted to fit the tension. It may be tricky to get the tension wheel to seat and spin freely but YMMV.

Parts used;

  • M3 bolts
  • M3 nuts
  • M3 washers
  • 18650 Battery
  • Pololu 30T track set
  • Wukong 2040 board
  • Micro Metal Gearmotor (N20) 100:1

The model in the image was printed using PLA, with a 0.8 nozzle and a 0.2 layer height. But I've designed it to be printed with a 0.4 nozzle also.

Supports;

  • Chassis - no supports needed
  • 8/10/12T wheels need supports
