Description

This is a series of great power supplies: Presets, Remote Control, Programmable, USB for realtime-remote monitoring and control, stable, low noise, powerfull; all you want! The only downside is that due to the fact that a power-on always goes through all the self-tests, you can not use the built-in power switch for quick try-outs and debugging. You either have to have your own switch on the power leads, or you just use the remote control possibilities:
The device comes with the little 8-pin “microphone” connector, you just have to short pin 5 to ground (pin 4) to switch off the power output, or send it to standby, as I call it.

This model screws on to the bottom of the device with two existing case / mounting screws.

The picture shows a Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) switch (because I always have only Dual Throw on stock), a SPST would be totally sufficient. However, I think a SPST switch with “on” and “off” markings (or ‘I’ and ‘O’) would be confusing, since it would send the PSU to standby (disable the output) if the switch is in the “on” position (since that's the position that allows you to “shortcut” pin 4 and 5).

In my case, I have foot switches / pedals for some applications, which I can also plug in here and use as a hands-free “push to power” momentary action. I have those configured with a 6.3mm stereo audio-jack (TRS) with NO-NC-COM.
Likewise, you could plug-in / wire-in any other remote control switch or relay.

This power supply might go with other brand names as well, let me know.
