Description
The "Parametric Magnetic Hinged Box" is a 3D model made with FreeCAD. Designed with different needs in mind, it offers a hinged lid and magnetic fasteners for a secure close. It's versatile and perfect for multiple uses, like lunch boxes, keeping your dental retainer or your rubik's cube safe. Feel free to make it your own or adapted it by using the provided FreeCAD source files. Please be aware that installing mounts for magnets will have an effect on the available internal volume of the box.
To calculate the Length:
Length = Definite Usable Length + (Diameter of Magnet + 2 * Wall Thickness + 2 * Tolerance)
To calculate the Width:
Width = Definite Usable Width + 2 * (Diameter of Magnet + 2 * Wall Thickness + 2 * Tolerance)
With these rearranged formulas, you can determine the needed dimensions of the box based on the definite usable inner dimensions.
For the magnets i recommend 6x2 mm magnets which are in my case already pretty strong.
