Description
Snap-together blocks of numbers, to create a price display in retail/coffee shops. Staff can quickly snap together hind. blocks for product displays, forming a professional and uniform looking display.
This was designed to level up price displays, and avoid the need for staff to write prices with a pen, when the “official” template and printer were not available or quick.
Print “inlay” pieces in contrasting color. Tolerances of “inlay” pieces should be tight enough that they won't fall out. You can add a drop of superglue just to be sure ("dot" block requires glue). Printing cost for ten hind. blocks is around ~2.5€ (price of magnets + filament).
You need circular magnets, diameter 6mm, height 7.5mm (exactly). Height mismatch will either not fit into the cutout, or (when shorter) will produce an audible “click” and poorer adhesion. I combined 6x3 and 6x5 magnets, regardless of the label they came out at 7.5mm height.
You'll need to print the number blocks with a print pause at 9.6mm print height, to insert the magnets. Print the “magnet-guide” piece as an aide to ensure all the numbers will get magnet polarity right. Magnets should pull towards the “magnet-guide” piece, the side that pulls towards it will get inserted “down” into the number block - pulling towards the build plate.
Did you mod or use this design somewhere? Post a Make as a thank-you.
