Description
Update 10-8-23: Added a X carriage that lines up with the 3rd mounting hole in the stepper motor to prevent extruder drop.
Prusa MK3 3mm extruder with better documentation, parts to accommodate my 3mm bondtech sensor remix and parts to help aid in assembly.
Notes-
Screenshot is included for the BOM incase it ever gets deleted.
Use the MK2 instructions for a rough guide on how to assemble, specifically the idler arm assembly.
Drill out the top hole in the idler assembly until the filament moves smoothly. It was tight in mine by default.
I cut my PTFE tube in mine to contour to the rear and idler. It improves the feeding better than without this.
The first layer calibration does not work with this extruder. Calibrate with a model that test first layers instead.
Volumetric flow will be less with this extruder compared to the normal v6, due to the nature of 2.85 filament.
The extruder requires a E3D V6 BOWDEN version, not direct drive.
The extruder gear I used is a mk7 gear. The only other gear I found that even is remotely usable spec wise is the seemeecnc extruder gear, but unconfirmed if it works
Remixed the body to not have the hook on the side near the pinda, as it made repairs near that area harder than it should be.
Remixed the idler arm to not have the “arm” for clearance with my remixed Bondtech filament sensor.
Remixed the backplate to have a proper hole in it for cable management. The default has a broken U hole in it.
Printable pin is also included for the idler arm.
