Description

With the release of the v2 of the BTT smart filament sensor I saw that it had a button/plunger for easier loading of flexibles. This has been a pain on the current v1 and looking around I saw that FNM on Thingiverse had a mod to add a similar feature. I decided to remix my original design and their design to add that feature to my Voron mount.

Hardware Required

  • BTT Smart Filament Sensor (remove backplate, new screws needed due to added thickness)
  • 2x M3 hammerhead nuts
  • 2x M3 x 8mm socket head screws
  • 6x M3 x 12mm socket head screws (replaces original BTT screws)

Print Settings

  • Print parts as oriented
  • Supports are needed on the sensor mount or you can use the pre-supported one
  • 4 walls and 40% infill
  • Some filing may be needed on the sensor mount where it snaps into the top extrusion depending on your support/bridging settings
  • May need to drill out the bowden guide PTFE path depending on your printer tuning/bridging settings

Assembly

  1. Remove the backplate from the BTT sensor
  2. Sandwich the sensor plate (Red), plunger (Grey), mid plate (Blue), and back plate (Green to the BTT sensor and attach with the 2 bottom screws (M3 x 12mm)
  3. Attach the sensor mount (Pink) with the four remaining M3 x 12mm screws
  4. Attach bowden guide (Purple) and sensor to the top extrusion using the M3x8 screws and hammerhead nuts
  5. Feed in bowden through the bowden guide and into the sensor coupler
  6. Insert a small length of PTFE on the other side of the sensor to guide filament in
