Stackable Box (vase mode)

Stackable box that prints quickly in vase mode, scales easily and has rigid sides even with only one contour.

Model

The base model is 100mm x 100mm and 50mm high. To scale it to your needs just scale the file in your slicer to the dimensions you like. Keep in mind that scaling it too small (like 10% of the original or something) will result in the geometry and tolerances becoming too small to print nicely. Upscaling should be no problem.

The sides of the box are designed to be rigid and print fast due to their geometry, which is similar to the beloved gyroid infill.

Printing

The model is designed to be printed in vase mode. This means 1 perimeter, 0% infill, and no top solid layers. You can activate the option on your slicer and it will make the necessary adjustments for you.

I printed boxes of this model at 200% scale in X and Y, and 150% scale in Z height. Appart from vase mode, I used the following parameters:

• 0.3mm layer height
• 0.9mm bottom solid layers (3 layers @ .3mm layer height)
• 0.8mm external perimeters and 0.6mm solid infill extrusion width (to save time on printing the solid bottom)

I would also advise using a fairly large extrusion width for the outer perimeter to further increase the stiffness of the outer wall. 0.8mm extrusion width on a standard 0.4mm nozzle should be fine (but don't increase it much unless you have experience).

Of course, you can print the model normally with 2 or more perimeters (not in vase mode), but keep in mind that this will increase the printing time significantly. In addition, vase mode creates very strong walls that are less prone to layer separation because the seam between two layers is on a helix and not along a single Z-height.
