Update February 20, 2024

Added new models that incorporates a printable spring. If desired, you can also have your button squeak with this noise maker. You don't have to get the 120 pack, but the size you'll need is 35mm in diameter. I've found springs aren't necessary when implementing the squeaker.

Have you ever wanted a useless button that does nothing when you press it?

WELL LOOK NO FURTHER!!!

This one, in particular, says “PRINT” on it. YAY!!!

Printing instructions:

The old design does require a spring for it to function. The inner diameter of the holes that hold the spring are 12.2 mm. So you'll want to make sure the spring doesn't exceed that when fully compressed. The spring I used is listed in the photos. Uncompressed, it has a diameter of ~11.5 mm and a length of ~24 mm.

When using Print Button Top v1, for best results, I found it's best to print it in the provided orientation in the STL and Step files with Tree/Organic supports. Otherwise, you risk breaking the tabs that hold the button in place.

I provided v2 for those who are looking for an easier print. Just print 4x Print Button Clip and glue them to the bottom before assembling.

To assemble:

  1. Using glue, attach the print letters to the top of the button
  2. Place your spring into the hole of the Print Button Case
  3. Position the Print Button on top of the Print Button Case
  4. While trying to keep the Print Button as level as possible, finesse the top down into the Print Button Case until you feel the tabs snap in place. It's okay if one tab goes in before the others. Just try to ensure all 4 tabs are all started inside the Print Button Case before proceeding to press the button all the way down.

I'm still very new to 3D modeling so any feedback is welcome.

Happy printing!
