This entry contains a fully customizable set of replacement parts for the attachment of the seat to the frame of a foldable wheelchair. These parts should be fitting for many foldable standard wheelchairs by different brands:

Breezy Rubix2 is the wheelchair I designed this for, so this is also the one with the best accuracy design-wise and also the only one I was able to actually test it with.Â
…and modifying!
Actually I designed these parts to modify my wheelchair, since I got it from someone else who was a lot bigger than me. With these parts I was able to modify the seat width (and also the overall width) of the chair to better fit my body.
Adjusting the model to your needs
Provided models
For those of you who don't need customizations and are just looking for printable files: I provide two different versions with printable files for you to choose of.
- ORIGINAL: These parts have the original measurements of the Rubix2 parts (bar diameter = 25mm, bar distance = 17mm) and the original design. The front attachment is cut into two pieces for printability. Needs supports or very good bridging.
- MODIFIED_130mm: These parts have the original bar diameter, but an increased bar distance of 130mm, which results in a decreased seat width (47cm vs 53cm). It also raises the seat. Uses alternative insertion of the nuts.
Options and Variables in OpenSCAD
The OpenSCAD script allowes for a number of adjustments:
- display for print: you can choose between a print setup and the assembled setup
- calculate bar distance: from 3 other variables you can have the needed bar distance calculated. Makes sense if you know your desired seat width and are able to measure two lengths.
- nutinsert: you can choose between two ways of inserting the nuts into the desired position
- diameter: the diameter of the bars
- Mx: the size of the bolts you want to use
- and many others: there are many more variables which are probably not used as much so I won't explain them all here
