Description

If you have one of the cheap $20 boom arm mounts for your microphone, you may know the desk-clamp-mount it comes with is a bit frustrating to use. My problems with it were: a) it scratches itself and b) it's janky if you want to rotate more than ~180 degrees (e.g. to put it behind your desk).

I designed this adapter to enable smooth, premium-feeling 360 degree rotation. It uses the existing mount as a clamp, so you won't need any additional hardware.

Fusion 360 file is provided if you need to customise to fit your boom arm.

Resolution:

Infill:

15% Gyroid

Filament:

Notes:

I printed with 5 walls and 4 top / bottom layers. If you really want to crack down on the clamp, you might want to consider printing with ~10 top & 10 bottom layers to ensure the clamped bit prints solid.

I used PLA and it worked well for over a year before layers started to delaminate; I just printed another replacement. PETG or ASA would be rock solid though. Make sure you have good layer adhesion as it seems layers separating will be your main source of failure.

Print in the orientation it'll be used in. I printed without supports and cleaned up any fuzzies in the slot with a knife. Supports would probably work though, but might be hard to get out of the slot as it's quite narrow / deep.
